Perot Systems new facility

Perot Systems, a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions, will open its new facility at the University of Nebraska Technology Park in October. On September 21, Dell announced that it has tendered an offer to buy Perot Systems for almost $3.9 billion in cash. Dell is one of the world’s largest technology companies.

“This transaction represents a great opportunity for our company and our associates,” Ross Perot Jr., chairman of the board at Perot Systems, said. “Today’s announcement is the next step in formalizing a relationship that has flourished for some time. When my father founded Perot Systems he envisioned a global information-technology leader. The new, larger Dell builds on that promise and its own successes by taking Perot Systems’ expertise to more customers than ever.”

Perot’s new Lincoln facility will house two divisions: Insurance and Business Solutions and Infrastructure Solutions. The Insurance and Business Solutions division currently employs more than 900 people in Lincoln. 750 of its employees will be consolidated in the new facility.

The Infrastructure Solutions division is a new operation for Nebraska. Perot has announced plans to call for 150 new jobs. Infrastructure Solutions provides Perot Systems units systems engineering and administration, server administration, messaging, storage management and network engineering services. Upon completion of the facility, Perot Systems will be the largest employer at the University of Nebraska Technology Park with an annual employee payroll of $7.5 million.

The building sits on approximately 20 acres and is a 150,000-square-foot, two story facility. The Perot Systems building project will be the largest private LEED certified building in the state. LEED-certified buildings have been proven to lower operating costs, reduce landfill waste, conserve energy and water and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This provides a safer and cleaner environment. Environmentally friendly features in the new Perot Systems building include an under-floor air system, which provides energy efficient heating and cooling. The Perot Systems office building is anticipated to open the first week of October.
