Lincoln—May 4, 2007—Eide Consulting Group, a provider of vaccine development services for the animal health industry, will enter the business incubation program at the Tech Park’s Technology Development Center in the middle of June.
Vaccine Consultant Elmer Eide said that by creating assays, or scientific experiments that determine whether a vaccine yields the desired results, Eide Consulting Group provides tools essential for developing, testing, licensing and releasing animal vaccines.
The company helps to alleviate many of the intricacies businesses face in the modern veterinary vaccine industry, including additional regulatory mandates, self-imposed quality concerns and new scientific discoveries and technologies.
“With our years of experience, we believe we can alleviate at least some of these difficulties and complexities,” Eide said. “We’ve already had some successes and hope we can build on them.”
Since Eide Consulting Group was launched in 2000 from Eide’s basement, its client list has grown from one to most of the larger animal health products firms located in the region. In the future, Eide said he hopes his company will take on more ambitious projects, such as developing and licensing entire vaccines.
“We would like to see our efforts progress from developing assays to developing and licensing the entire product,” Eide said. “We are especially interested in seeing new technology or ideas applied or integrated into vaccine development or replace or supplement established technology.”
Eide said that he hopes that the Tech Park will help Eide Consulting Group accomplish these goals by providing it with an environment conducive to meeting clients’ needs. It will also give the fledgling company more flexibility, independence, exposure to new technology and ideas and greater visibility.
Tech Park President Steve Frayser said that Eide Consulting Group would also contribute positively to the Tech Park.
“Eide Consulting Group will add a new dimension to the mix of companies in the Technology Development Center,” Frayser said. “The initial company team has over 80 years of industry experience and well developed client contacts. By converting office space into a modern lab we are able to provide the physical presence they need to grow the company. Eide Consulting will be the sixth life science firm to locate in the Technology Park providing a good compliment to the strong presence of major life science companies in the community.”
Wendy Birsall, President of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, said that the new business will also be an asset to Lincoln
“This is great news for our community,” she said. “We would like to congratulate Mr. Eide and his associates as well as the University of Nebraska Technology Park for putting together this exciting project. This is a prime example of the opportunities available in creating high value businesses through collaboration, cooperation and research and the continued investment of our private sector partners.”
