Why Lincoln

As the state capitol, Lincoln is Nebraska’s star city—and not just because of the little shape that hovers over it on a map. It’s a city offering businesses a growing, hard-working and well-educated labor force, access to a major research institution, a pragmatic city government and a variety of entertainment venues.

Work force: Lincoln is one of the fastest growing cities in the Midwest, exceeding both state and national growth rates.  Across the country, Lincoln residents are known for their friendliness and strong work-ethic.

Education: Many of these hardworking employees also hold degrees from one of the three institutions of secondary education located within the city limits, including the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Nebraska Wesleyan University and Union College.

Research: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln serves as a nationally renowned research institution, conducting ground-breaking research in science and technology while maintaining some of the most respected educational programs in the country.

Government: Developmental efforts received an A on Lincoln’s 2005 annual scorecard.  Lincoln leaders strive to build awareness of current businesses, to make the business development process fast and easy, and to recruit and retain a talented workforce.

Recreation:  Lincoln residents can easily enjoy a morning at one of the city’s cozy coffee houses, an afternoon cheering at a Saltdogs baseball game, an evening strolling through one of the city’s many parks, and a night visiting downtown restaurants and clubs. Lincoln residents can enjoy all their favorite foods, watch their favorite plays at the Lied Center, follow a variety of college sports teams, visit the zoo or do whatever else they can think of in one of America’s most affordable communities.
